Genius hour helped me learn about photography techniques & using 35mm photography. I learned how to take an average picture to a great picture professional picture.
Genius Hour was supposed to help us learn more about something we were interested in. I chose photography and 35mm photography as my project because I am very interested in photography. This year I took the Photography class that allowed me to gain the information I needed to do this project. I wanted to gather the information all in one spot so that I could share my information in a easier way to anybody else who was interested. I am going to give my weebly page to Mrs. Western so she will have access for it and can add any information to it also. I really just wanted to know more about photography and how to take pictures and how to operate and print from a 35mm camera.
Starting my Genius hour I had think really hard about what I wanted to do the project on. It took me a couple of days to figure out what I wanted to learn more about that I really liked. So I finally thought about photography. I figured I knew the basic little things about how to take some picture but I wanted to know more about different techniques that will make an average picture into a great professional picture. All through the year I have just gathered more and more information on different techniques of how to take a picture, how to maintain a camera, how to use a camera, and what makes a good picture a good picture.
The second semester I choose to switch from just photography to 35mm photography. I had never heard of it before and knew nothing about it before I started working with it in my photography class. I quickly learned that I really enjoyed using a 35mm camera. I found that the process was much harder and took so much more time but it was all worth it when I had a picture that turned out perfectly. I had to learn all about focusing the lense, adjusting the shutter speed and aperture, how to roll film and load it into the camera without it getting destroyed, how to unload the film from the camera once the roll was full, and how to develope the pictures.
Gathering all of my information on my Weebly site has been my main focus so that if some person was really looking for helpful tips they could find all sorts of information all on my site. I have also told my photography teacher about it and a couple of other people who have shown an interest in photography. I gave my weebly address to my grandpa so he could tell anyone that he knew of to check out my site. I also made a video and am giving it to my photography teacher so she can use it in her classroom.
I am hopeful that some person will find my weebly page and fall in love with photography as much as I have. They will try all the different techniques and possibly even using a 35mm camera. Even if someone finds my page and does not like what is on it or does not find it useful I would still hope that if they knew someone who might like it they would tell that person about my site. Getting the information about photography and 35mm photography to people in a easy to use site has been my main goal of this project and I believe I have accomplished that.
If I could do anything different it would be to spend more time trying to write out more of the information in an easier way for someone who is just starting out to understand. I found a bunch of website that I just put links for onto my page because I did not have a ton of time that I could use for writing everything out myself.
I realized that doing a project like this is hard work and requires a large amount of dedication of time and energy. I did not put the proper amount of time into this project that I feel I should have to make it a great project. I have done well on gathering the information but I could have done better at writing things out myself instead of just putting link on the page.
Working through this project I found a ton of resources that have great information about photography and 35mm photography. I worked hard at finding the good information and getting it onto my page. I also found good pages that had the same information just in different ways so that if a person could not understand it from one page they might be able to understand it better from another page.
I successfully gathered information and put it onto my weebly page in an organized easy to find manner. I made all of my pages look professional and appealing to the eye making people want to look into it more. I made a how to video on how to use a 35mm camera so that Mrs. Western could show her photography class next year and she might not have to constantly be showign the students over and over again the same things.
